A hole in the wall, genuinely Mexican, restaurant. We both had chile rellenos and red enchiladas. They were the real traditional deal. I also got a hard shell taco with carnitas. Also "spot on" old time Mexico.
Additionally, both of us got liquidas or, in English, smoothies. One was vanilla, which was chock full of genuine vanilla and bits of vanilla visible. The other was a papaya one with milk. Thick concoctions that brimmed up to the top of big serving goblets.
The ambience is like real Mexico. It's very low key and no frills. Service quite polite and cordial. Everyone queues up to order from the counter with a single large, handprinted menu overhead.
They accept credit cards but tack on an extra .50 for transaction fees. Unpretentious and authentic. No opportunities to add a tip to the bill. Just leave cash if you're inclined.
I'm definitely coming back to get my fix of real Mexican cuisine. Nothing Nuvo cuisine here. Tried and so very true. Love it! -

Way overpriced. I ordered two carne asada breakfast burritos. 11$ each. Although it tastes good, almost zero meat . Did I say 11$. A large fountain soda was 3$. I won't be back.

We're loving this little street-taco spot in old town Ventura. Tacos are correct, prices right, salsa is delicious and the sides are fresh and tasty. The street-side patio is covered from the weather, comfortable and dog friendly. Give it a try!

Not pretentious. Typical hole in the wall Mexican dive. You'll get what you order, no surprises. Food is authentic Mexican. Not spicy unless you ask for it that way. Humongous bottles of tapatio on the tables and your usual jalapeno, spicy carrots and salsas. Reasonable cost, discount for cash.

This place is legit!!! I finally found an excellent burrito in Ventura that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. It's all about the tortilla. It's pliable and soft with little blisters from the heat (not grilled tortilla). The insides are hot and cheese melted. It's a biggie burrito! I ordered the egg and ham breakfast burrito and it comes with cheese, beans, potatoes, pico. I substituted the pico for their AMAZING green salsa. I could drink the green salsa! It's that good! A different day I ordered rice, bean, cheese burrito and the rice was perfect Mexican rice (light and fluffy with excellent flavor). All I can say is if you are a burrito snob like me, you just found your new Mecca. I asked the owner if they make their tortillas, he said no but they have a very fresh supplier who does. They have an excellent juice bar selection too. I saw the chicken soup people were eating and it looks phenomenal; served with fresh lime, onions and cilantro! The only recommendation that I would love to see is shredded marinated chicken instead of chopped chicken for the burritos. The pics don't do it justice. Heaven in my mouth!
